ComicCon tix today!
So another day in the life of a ComicCon attendee…
- have comiccon dreams that wake you up at 6:30am
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- wake up and get on the computer to spend 2 1/2 hours until they go on sale
- try and do other things (laundry, dishes) to get your mind off the wait
- start texting and chatting with people who are also waiting crazily just like you
- feel the stress begin to build in your body and you’ve still got a half hour to go
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- be frustrated with yourself because you probably should’ve bought tix last year since you were an attendee
- remember that they sold those tix 1 month after the event ended and you spent all your money at said event
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- start clicking the green button at 8:59
- keep doing it until the white screen of doom comes up
- start stressing about whether you should stop the load and refresh or leave the wheel to spin infinitely
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- have phone on the side and keep refreshing comiccon’s facebook page
- read comments to see everyone is in the same boat as you
- stress recedes just a tad bit
- texting friends to see where they are in line and find they’re on the white page of doom as well
- notice stress lessens even more
- see a facebook post that someone got in the waiting room & their # is posted
- see your stupid white page of doom
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- friend texts that her friend got in and has a good # (ie. under 10,000)
- finally see you got in the room but notice your # is 36,750
- curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- read facebook comments – some good some bad and LOTS of angry ones
- realize there is hundreds of thousands of people all around the world trying to get in queue
- continue to curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- get a text that a friend of a friend is getting close to the sales page as # is dropping
- get another text that this friend will get me & the hubs tickets and we can paypal her
- yaaaaaaaay!!!! all is right in the world!
- silently curse comiccon for doing this to you every year
- wait for text to confirm Fri & Sat tix are bought
- text arrives – oooh yeeeeaaaah
- decide that you will purchase Thurs tix on the resale day in a few months
- do the happy dance that you WILL be going again this year
- feel happy about the decision to NOT attend Sunday so that you can rest from all the craziness
- remember how freaking tiring the whole event is
- curse comiccon for doing this to you ever year
IS THIS COMPLETE EXCITEMENT
OR
IS IT SLIGHTLY MIXED WITH TERROR?

Brilliant post, Shug! You deftly characterized the 14 (or more) stages of Comic Con Ajeda!
I remember when the event was a much more leisurely affair. No California Gold Rush for tickets; no lines into infinity to get into panel discussions; Saturdays around lunchtime were busiest (but do-able); and Wednesday night previews really were a treat because the place was darn near empty. (No, really!) It was a real pleasure back then, now it seems more of an endurance test!
Have a wonderful time this year! Me? I’ll be reading about it all form the comfort of my (slightly less crowded) home. : )
LOL, perfect description of the mornings events — but success feels great!
Wow….didn’t realize it was that hard getting tickets. Yikes! I’d be drinking by 10 am.
Congrats for getting in!!
Good idea Jenn!! Next time I need to remember to have a bottle of wine close by, if not something stronger!
Ha ha! I can identify with that completely. But now I wonder why I did Saturday and Sunday for me when I should have done Friday and Saturday. Oh well, I will definitely try for Friday when the resale thing comes around.
Great post! Congrats on getting tickets…..what an ordeal! The year my hubby and I went (2007) it was relatively easy for us to order our tickets, but we heard from others that it was much harder than the years before and so much more crowded (our first time there so we didn’t know any better, lol)…..and now I hear that it is exceedingly harder to get in and so much more crowded…..but so worth it!!!! So happy for you and, as always, can’t wait to see pics this Summer! =^D
Wish I had been that lucky. Got up at 3.30am (Melbourne Australia) for the 4.00am ticket release to not even make it into the waiting room let alone get tickets
Remember they resale the returned badges in June, so hopefully you get some then!
Have you heard anything about what the Monster High doll is going to be?
Nothing yet! That usually happens in May but as soon as I know I’ll post it!
