So today I was in the mood for redressing! Plus I wanted to setup a little more for my backdrop too. I think I’m going to be on the hunt for small items that will work for mini dioramas and keep them in a box somewhere because I like how this came out. I’m a sucker for black & white because it makes it easier for setting up – not much thought is needed, LOL. Anyway, I found this awesome scrapbook paper a few weeks ago and knew it would be perfect for a background. Okay, so today I officially feel “better”. No fever at all (major improvement) and I’m hungry and less tired – yay! Wowza – I think this girl is the sleeper hit of the whole she-bang! So I took the pins out of her hair and washed it out and like I stated before, the rooting is sparse. I tried to just pull her hair down and straight but it’s chopped unevenly (due to the way the original style was done) and if I had cut it to the shortest length it would be too short for my taste. So I ended up just pulling it back in a ponytail. This (1) keeps the bald spots covered and (2) helps the uneven pieces blend into the longer ones in the ponytail. I really didn’t have the time to check out the Vero souvenir doll during convention, but as I was packing I pulled her out and had a good look at her. I loved her face and especially the coral lips & blue eyes. This morning I decided to pull her back out and debox her. Out of the box I love her even more. Someone had said that this Vero reminded them of Doris Day and I totally agree. She comes in a dress with white embroidered bodice and black bottom that is longer in back. I was surprised to find out that ILHYLM Poppy was not on my doorstep yesterday… grrr… I’m hoping that tomorrow will be the day, cuz’ I’m dying here looking at everyone else’s pics!! Dang, I’m reeeeeeeeally loving this doll. I haven’t even put her back on the shelf yet. I just move her to the side next to my light setup and then bring my Giselle’s in to photograph. The Giselle’s go back onto the shelf and I move Vero back into the spotlight again. So I thinking about her and decided that I had to see her in a more casual look to see if she could pull it off. So I left class a little early today to come home and play with dolls. I think now that I’m nearing the end of school I’m having that “I don’t care” attitude, LOL. I had planned on playing all day Saturday, taking pics and hoping the new Poppy would arrive by then too. Alas, I was informed that this weekend we take our mock CALE exam, which is basically a mock board exam similar to the one I take in August for my license. So from 9-4 on Saturday I will be answering hundreds of questions – ugh – not a way I want to spend my Saturday, that’s for sure. So I guess I’ll admit now that was never a fan of the first Veronique or Vanessa, so you won’t hear me saying anything about the changes in facemold, because I actually think the new ones are prettier. Maybe it’s because I started collecting in fall of 2007, and they were already slightly changing the original screening, or maybe it’s the open mouth on Vanessa… I don’t really know. Of course there were some exceptions like Mastermind Vero and Night Warrior Vanessa, who were both absolutely gorgeous.
